Barracks Living at It's Finest: Going Organic?

I wanted to take some time to promote a pretty awesome store I came across in Old City Jacksonville.  New Bridge Organic Market is exactly where it says, on New Bridge; right across from the Bicycle Gallery. Why go organic?  Well there are tons of reason, a lot of the, are argued about every day between those for and against.  I like organic foods; to me there is something to say about knowing that what you are eating hasn't been tampered with by harmful pesticides or genetically engineered to look like Arnold Schwarzenegger's biceps.  Many people believe it's safer, tastier, and better for the environment.

Organic does have it's downfalls however.  It is most definitely a lot more expensive.  That's the price you pay for better quality.  NBOM is a nice little shop that's been in Jacksonville for a year now.  They have tons of options from fresh, local grown milk, to earth friendly laundry detergent.  I absolutely love their selection of goods that you get straight from the dispenser!  I've gotten delicious couscous, quinoa, and organic popcorn kernals.  It's all delicious and actually a very good price, sometimes even beating out the boxed variety you see in supermarkets; which is a definite must for the cost conscious among us barracks Marines.

The staff is friendly and always willing to help.  They get most of their goods from local farmers and co-ops.  It's honestly the freshest stuff you'll find around town that isn't home grown.  Well that's all I really wanted to say.  Be sure to follow my facebook and twitter and to check out my fitness challenge to see how I'm doing.  Happy snacking!
